L'Oréal USA Launches Campaign Encouraging Girls To Become Scientists, Engineers

January 22, 2013: 12:00 AM EST
L'Oréal USA launched forgirlsinsciece.org, a Web site seeking to "inspire and empower" girls to become science, technology, engineering, and mathematics professionals. Women are underrepresented in the STEM fields, according to L'Oréal USA, which prompted the company to launch the initiative. Developed based on the results of focus group discussions with girls 13–18 years old, the Web site features videos of women working in the STEM fields, facts on women scientists, and career opportunities.
